New book out now, published by the Poetry Business and available here.

‘A poetic manual of meditation in action’ (Martine Batchelor)

‘A full cycle of what it is to be a wild and questing human, negotiating the ongoing edges of kindness’ (Linda France)

‘These poems have shown me once again that both poetry and art in the widest sense are essential to us if we are to remain human and responsive to one another in a world that can often seem irredeemably painful’ (Ananda/Stephen Parr)

On 31st January 2019 I made an intention to write a daily poem on the theme of kindness, including its obstacles and opposites. As the pandemic arrived, this intention held and supported me, like many who (re)discovered the joys of creativity during lockdowns. The project became a year-long meditation, honest and unflinching, and this remarkable evocation of a unique year is illustrated throughout with beautiful water-colours by artist Emma Burleigh.

You can watch the recording of the launch here, including the specially commissioned songs by Kate Thomas and Helen Lyle.
